A rare showpiece from Miu Miu's S/S 2001 collection, this shirt is a fun example of the label's enduring fascination with Wild West iconography. Triangular chest pockets, a striking curvilinear back yoke and faux-pearl snap buttons underline the design's Western heritage. The fabric is a soft cotton poplin with 5% elastane content, giving it increased stretch. The silhouette is semi-fitted with oversize dropped shoulders.

Various subtly off-beat details make this a quintessential Miu Miu garment. The shoulderline and yoke are decorated with a nervously repeating zig-zag stitch consisting of brown, ivory and mint green threads. On the front, several buttons are without faux-pearl caps, resulting in a questionably irregular look — was this a deliberate design feature or the result of a production issue (since this is a sample garment)? The fact that we have no clear answer is a testament to the success of Miu Miu's irreverent design ethos.
